The Experiment started as a radio music program on 91.3 FM KUOP at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California in the mid 1980s. I was familiar with KUOP, having spent most of the 1980s living in remote Calaveras County with limited media exposure, after living in a saturated entertainment environment in Los Angeles County until 1979. Of course, my interests leaned toward Album Oriented Rock (AOR) and late night AM transistor radio baseball broadcasts from middle America rather than A Prairie Home Companion and All Things Considered, but my pre-teen brain didn't see the connection at the time.
